Another of our regular trips to Portmeirion. Can heartily recommend Bridge House #4. We spent the evenings with the lights out just watching the Dwyryd estuary go by. Hotel food sublime as ever; breakfast in the room – luxurious and the woodlands and beaches fabulous. And best of all, we had the entire village pretty much to ourselves ( the food fair started the day after we left).
Flying the Budgie
A whizz[sic] around the block in my mate Pete’s flying pushchair – affectionately known at Welshpool as “The Budgie”. Cold, draughty, slow er… did I say cold? But the most fun you can have in a tiny 2 stroke aeroplane. Actually getting in the thing is an art-form in itself, but it’s a doddle to fly and is about as thirsty as a lawnmower.
Latest project
Despite previous denials, I admit, we are now serial renovators. Our lovely new project in the hamlet of Capel Betws Lleucu in westest Wales. To find it go to the middle of nowhere and turn left. I foresee many years of hard manual labour. Watch this space.

Insect Apocalypse
Insect numbers in freefall worldwide. Can’t think why!
Charlie’s store, Aberystwyth
Outer Hebrides – 2019
A taste of our 3 and a bit weeks from Vatersay to Butt of Lewis, April to May 2019. Order is a bit random. We found a stuffed corncrake in Stornoway, a bottle of Corncrake Ale on Barra and met someone who had heard a bloody corncrake at Balnranald just the day before. So, after 2,500 miles can we call that a result?

Road Signs
They don’t make road signs like this any more. This on the lane near Hafod Estate, Devil’s Bridge, Ceredigion.

Jay
We spend an inordinate amount of time watching the birds on our garden feeder: the characters, the pecking-order, the antics. No fewer than 5 jays regularly visit for a fill up on the fat-balls. Stunning, underrated birds…

Out of the Jeep…
In black and white
No denying it. (Opposite Blaen Dyffryn, Plantlife nature reserve, Lampeter)
