This is the river Aeron. The entire bank for half a mile is choked with black plastic. And the other pictures are from two different nearby farms, south Ceredigion. I cannot think of a single valid excuse for this. Click images to enlarge – if you can bear to.
Hyperactive scritchy-scratchy sky over Capel Betws Lleucu (Ceredigion) this afternoon. The sort of sky that would have chem-trail conspiracists rushing to twitter to warn us all.
Home for the week. Gallanach castle, Oban. For some R&R. We took our own chef with us. A week of book reading, island-hopping, train-riding, ferry-boating, beach-combing, hiking-boot-buying. But mostly scallopy sea-fooding on the beach in front of the house. Scallops hand-dived by that same chef, aka Hâf Evans. P.S. We were staying in the wing you see looking out to the right.
Jane, you’re beginning to worry me. Two letters this week makes it five since August*1. I think you’ve become rather fixated that we don’t have a television, don’t watch or record anything as it’s being broadcast and don’t use the BBC’s IPlayer service – excellent though I believe it to be. Whilst I was at first thrilled to receive your lipstick-red letter this week, my smile faded to disappointment at your threatening tone. Look, I don’t have to have a television and I don’t have to tell you that I don’t. Just like I don’t need to tell the police that I’m not a car thief and haven’t done any shoplifting lately. So, either do your bloody investigation, like you’ve been threatening for at least a decade, or do the planet a favour and stop wasting paper. Yours, with love Martin
FLASHBACK: 25 and a half years ago I stood for election for the Green Party in Denbighshire. Nothing much seems to have changed except, perhaps, that the only recycling back then was in the form of occasional bottle and paper banks. And you don’t get greener than this: we fly-posted overnight using flour and water paste and then right after the vote we spent another long night removing them all again. I was terrified of actually winning! But glad to report I came 4th out of 6.
